Donald Trump claims ‘we are on the brink of World War 3’
Former President Donald Trump blamed President Biden’s “weakness and surrender” for the drone attack that killed three US troops — darkly warning that his successor is leading us “on the brink of World War Three.”
“Our Country cannot survive with Joe Biden as Commander in Chief,” the GOP presidential primary frontrunner said on Truth Social late Sunday after the deadly drone strike on a US base near Jordan’s border with Syria, which Biden blamed on “radical Iran-backed militant groups.”
“This brazen attack on the United States is yet another horrific and tragic consequence of Joe Biden’s weakness and surrender,” Trump wrote, after expressing his sympathies to the families of the victims.
Trump, 77, argued that the deadly attack “would NEVER have happened if I was President, not even a chance.
“Just like the Iranian-backed Hamas attack on Israel would never have happened, the War in Ukraine would never have happened, and we would right now have Peace throughout the World. Instead, we are on the brink of World War 3.”
The drone strike overnight killed three US service members and injured 34 others, marking the first time that American troops have been killed in the Middle East since the outbreak of Israel’s war with Hamas in October.
Biden, 81, said in a statement that the strike on the base was carried out by militants operating in Syria and Iraq with support from Iran — a claim Teheran vehemently denied as “baseless.”
Trump maintained that Biden’s coddling of Iran has made the attack possible.
“Three years ago, Iran was weak, broke, and totally under control,” he wrote. “Thanks to my Maximum Pressure policy, the Iranian Regime could barely scrape two dollars together to fund their terrorist proxies.”
“Then Joe Biden came in and gave Iran billions of dollars, which the Regime has used to spread bloodshed and carnage throughout the Middle East,” he added.
The one-term ex-president, who is running to unseat Biden in November, concluded by telling his followers: “Our Country cannot survive with Joe Biden as Commander in Chief.”
Biden vowed to hold those responsible for the Americans’ deaths and injuries “to account at a time and in a manner our choosing.”
“We shall respond,” he said while speaking in South Carolina Sunday.
Iran rushed to distance itself from the attack, with a foreign ministry spokesman claiming that “regional resistance” group do not take orders from Tehran.
