Donald Trump denies Kellyanne Conway told him he lost in 2020
Former President Donald Trump blasted his onetime White House counselor Kellyanne Conway Thursday over her claim that she told him that he had lost the 2020 presidential election — insisting he “wouldn’t have dealt with her any longer” if she had.
Conway, Trump’s victorious 2016 campaign manager, wrote about the final months of the 45th president’s administration in her recently published tell-all “Here’s the Deal,” in which she claimed that staffers falsely continued to reassure Trump that he had been re-elected.
“I may have been the first person Donald Trump trusted in his inner circle who told him that he had come up short this time,” write Conway, who left the White House in August 2020.
The former president disagreed with her recollection, lashing out Thursday in a post on his new social media platform, Truth Social.
“Kellyanne Conway never told me that she thought we lost the election,” Trump wrote. “If she had I wouldn’t have dealt with her any longer – she would have been wrong – could go back to her crazy husband.”
Trump was referring to George Conway, who has been a persistent critic of the former president.
“Writing books can make people say some very strange things. I wonder why? Got 12 million more votes than we did the first time, the most votes, by far, of any sitting President. The election was RIGGED. They used Covid to cheat and steal, and the evidence is massive and indisputable,” Trump alleged.
He concluded his message by suggesting people see conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza’s film “2000 Mules” which purports to prove that widespread fraud cost Trump the 2020 election.
Congress certified the Electoral College results giving Joe Biden the victory on Jan. 6, 2021, the same day a mob of pro-Trump supporters stormed Capitol Hill to disrupt the vote.
A number of federal courts, including the Supreme Court, dismissed numerous lawsuits filed by Trump’s lawyers claiming election fraud.
