Drew Barrymore halts show to comfort crying audience member
She’s an Angel.
Actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore, 48, went viral after a clip of her comforting a fan who burst into tears while on the set of her show appeared on social media.
According to a clip posted on the show’s official Instagram Friday, the “Charlie’s Angel” star was seen sitting on the set of her show when she noticed the emotional fan.
“Are you ok,” asked Barrymore in genuine concern. “Did anything happen?”
The 48-year-old — dressed in an emerald green pantsuit — rushed over to the woman, who was later identified as LA resident Olivia, and kindly asked: “Whose a– do I have to kick?”
Overcome with tears, Olivia was unable to answer the actress but her friend explained the whole situation.
“She loves you so much,” said Olivia’s friend.
The “Never Been Kissed” star let out an audible sigh of relief.
“Oh, thank God it’s nothing bad,” breathed Barrymore eliciting a round of laughter from the audience. “Did you see me coming up here, I was like ‘ Tell me where they are!”
“Because I will take them down,” continued the actresses. “Who made you cry!”
The Post reached out to Olivia and Barrymore for comment.
After regaining control of her ability to speak, Olivia revealed why she broke down.
“You’re just, like, my childhood idol,” gushed the tearful woman. “I don’t want to be that person, to like, cry.”
Barrymore then told the young woman to “screw that! Be that person,” causing Olivia to break out in renewed sobs and prompting a fresh round of applause from the audience.
“I really love you,” sobbed Olivia. “I am so sorry.”
The mother of two then climbs into the audience asking Olivia her name before embracing the young adult in a warm hug.
“I don’t know why I have the urge to do this,” explained the “50 First Dates” actress as she plops down into the girl’s lap and holds her. “This is just such an honor for me to meet you, I’m sorry, I have dumpling breath.”
“And it’s so funny that you would say, ‘I don’t wanna cry here.’ I cry here all the time,” finished Barrymore.
Several social media users applauded the talk show host for her interaction.
“As an audience member at this filming, this really touched me,” commented one user. “My friends and I were discussing how much of a different experience this show is compared to others. Drew’s vulnerability is so beautiful IRL.”
“A hero for us emotional queens,” commented a second person.
“I feel like Drew sitting on my lap would permanently rewire my brain and cure my lifelong existential angst and insomnia and anxiety,” laughed a third user.
Other commenters said that the 48-year-old’s kindness extended beyond the show.
“Drew came in to a grocery store in NYC late at night when I was a cashier and she was SO NICE to me & my coworker,” revealed one star-struck commenter. “No one else was in the store and she took time to talk to us and was so damn sweet, I will never forget that.”
“I was an extra on ‘Never Been Kissed’ and she straight up hung out with all the extras for a while,” gushed another fan.
“When you meet your heroes and they exceed your expectations and shower you with love,” a third person said. “Drew you made Olivia’s day. You are pure love!”
