Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia scores consecutive pole for German MotoGP at the Sachsenring

Francesco Bagnaia secured pole in Q2 at the German Moto Grand Prix on Saturday morning.

It was the second consecutive pole he had taken at the track after leading the grid in 2022 as well.

It was an eventful morning at the Sachsenring, with Marc Marquez suffering three crashes in less than an hour, and only able to secure seventh spot. In Q1 he had slipped off at Turn 13 and raced back to the pits just in time to secure a spot for Q2.

Marco Bezzechi also had trouble, crashing in one of the same spots as Marquez and having to run back to the pits to get back out in time in pursuit of quicker times.

Brad Binder had topped Q1 in the day’s first session.

Ducati’s Bagnaia ended well ahead of Binder, who could only claim ninth spot, a little over half as second slower than Bagnaia’s best time of 1:12.409.

Second spot went to another Ducati, Luca Marini, with Jack Miller taking the last spot on the front row.

Johan Zarco, Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin made it an all-Ducati second row.

Then it was Marc Marquez and his namesake Alex behind him, and then Binder.

The Sprint race was due to start at 1pm British time.
