Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson recreates ’90s meme for Christmas
We got a visit from the ghost of Dwayne Johnson’s past.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson delighted fans on Christmas by recreating his famous ’90s meme on Instagram while wishing his followers happy holidays.
“Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, ’90s Rock nipping at your nose,” Johnson, 51, sang Monday while wearing a black turtleneck, a silver chain, a wig and — most importantly — a ’90s-throwback fanny pack.
“I’m walking down the hall looking cool as f – – k; just take one look at my amazing clothes,” the “Moana” star continued. “Everybody knows a turkey and some camel toe – I mean, mistletoe — helps to make the season bright. Although it’s been said many times many ways, Merry Christmas to you.”
The wrestler-turned-actor later captioned the post “Merry Christmas, from your keepin’ it 100 friend. 90’s Rock,” adding the hashtag: “#TappinFannys.”
Johnson’s post drew comments praising the “Jumanji” star’s new lyrics and throwback look.
“Iconic,” one user wrote in the post’s comment section.
His good pal Kevin Hart also responded to the video with several crying-laughing emojis.
“The Rock cosplaying the Rock is the best gift we didn’t know we needed,” a second person penned.
After being named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People Magazine in 2016, Johnson revealed that the 1994 photo was taken by his first wife, Dany Garcia.
“I’ve got a tissue underneath my elbow because I felt like my turtleneck was expensive,” he explained.
“The funniest thing about this picture is, this is not a joke,” he told the outlet. “I walked out of the house like this. Like: ‘Hey baby, this is it, right?’”
“Alright, so here’s the thing,” he continued. “It takes a lot of confidence to rock a fanny pack. Put your thumb in the fanny pack. I’m giving a look.”
During an interview with E!, the actor hinted that he kept women’s phone numbers “and stuff like that” in the fanny pack.
“A lot of inappropriate things I can’t mention right now,” he added.
Garcia, 55, now works as her ex-husband’s manager. The couple separated in 2008.
The pair shared custody of their daughter, Simone, 22, who has followed in her dad’s footsteps by also becoming a professional wrestler.
Johnson went on to marry singer Lauren Hashian in 2019. They are parents of daughters Jasmine, 8, and Tiana, 5.
