Eddie Davis, boyfriend of Alicia Navarro, slapped with child sex abuse charges
The boyfriend of runaway teenager Alicia Navarro has been charged with sexual abuse of children.
Edmund Davis, 36, was arrested Monday and charged with two felony counts of abuse of children over material found on his cellphone, according to a release from the Montana Attorney General’s Office.
The cellphone and other material was seized in July after Navarro — who disappeared from her home in Arizona in 2019 just shy of her 15th birthday — had presented herself to police in Havre, Mont., and said she wanted to be taken off the missing persons list.
Shortly after interviewing Navarro police served a search warrant for an apartment where they had learned she was living with Davis.
As she answered the door to the police, Davis was observed by officers attempting to throw a cellphone away and hide it in the trash.
According to the Attorney General’s release: “Dozens of images of suspected child sex abuse material were located on the device, confirmed to belong to Davis.”
The phone and other electronic devices were analyzed by the Glendale Police Department in Arizona.
“Following their protocols, Glendale Police selected ten images from those found and brought them to medical experts.
“The review determined the individuals depicted to be under the age of 13, with two images of children under the age of 5,” according to the release and charging documents.
Searches of other devices concluded they “contained images of infants and toddlers and other computer-generated or animated content showing children being sexualized.”
The first count against Davis, possession of images of a child under 12 engaged in sexual conduct, carries a prison sentence of between 25 and 100 years.
The second count of child abuse can result in a sentence between four years and life imprisonment.
Davis is being held in the Hill County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
