Eleven Israeli soldiers killed since ground operations in Gaza: IDF
Eleven Israeli soldiers have been killed fighting Hamas terrorists in Gaza since the Jewish nation ramped up its ground operations in the Palestinian territory, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The IDF first announced that two soldiers, Sgt. Roy Wolf and Sgt. Levi Lifshitz, who were killed Tuesday in “hand to hand” combat in northern Gaza, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Then on Wednesday, the Israeli military confirmed nine other soldiers were killed Tuesday fighting Hamas in the Palestinian enclave.
The IDF identified the soldiers as Cpl. Asif Loger, Lt. Ariel Reich, Sgt. Hillel Solomon, Sgt. Adi Danan, Sgt. Adi Leon, Sgt. Erez Mishlovski, Cpl. Lior Siminowitz, Cpl. Ido Ovadia, Sgt. Roy Wolf, and Sgt. Roi Daoui.
The ages of the 11 fallen soldiers ranged between 19 and 24, Israeli officials said.
Israel began a new stage of the war over the weekend with boots on the ground in Gaza following retaliatory airstrikes in response to Hamas’ slaughter of more than 1,400 Israelis on Oct. 7.
Since the Hamas attack in Israel that sparked the war, more than 300 Israeli soldiers have been killed.
The Hamas-backed Gaza Health Ministry claims more than 8,000 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict erupted last month.
Troops were able to free an IDF soldier from Hamas captivity during a ground operation, the military said Monday.
There were more than 200 hostages taken by Hamas during the terror group’s brutal attack.
