Elmo wellness tweet sparks dreadful reactions, Biden responds

S is for sadness.

A seemingly innocent tweet made by beloved “Sesame Street” icon Elmo sparked a flurry of concerning reactions — including from President Biden.

“Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing,” the puppet, who is reportedly only 3 years old, posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Little did Elmo know, he was about to be inundated with various responses ranging from football losses to job layoffs, to even marital woes and the impending destruction of the human race.

One common theme among the tweets, however, was the fact that everyone seemed to be at their breaking point.

“Elmo I’m gonna be real I am at my f–king limit,” wrote one user, whose response has gained more than half a million likes on the social media platform.

“Not gonna lie…..I’m tired, Elmo,” wrote a second person. “A lot’s going on, little Red.”

“Elmo each day the abyss we stare into grows a unique horror. One that was previously unfathomable in nature. Our inevitable doom which once accelerated in years, or months, now accelerates in hours, even minutes,” a third user ruminated. “However I did have a good grapefruit earlier, thank you for asking.”

“I know how hard it is some days to sweep the clouds away and get to sunnier days,” he wrote. “Our friend Elmo is right: We have to be there for each other, offer our help to a neighbor in need, and above all else, ask for help when we need it.”

“Even though it’s hard, you’re never alone,” the 46th president concluded.

Several celebrities chimed in with their own worries too.

“I’m just looking for somebody to talk to and show me some love if you know what I mean,” rapper T-Pain chimed in.

“Elmo is gonna regret being on the internet,” trolled one user.

“We need to start checking in on our friends. Thousands of people are telling Elmo that they’re depressed. Our friends are out here venting their sadness to an emotionally attentive muppet,” a second person said.

Former TV personality Dr. Phil used the opportunity to promote his new book, ” We’ve Got Issues: How You Can Stand Strong for America’s Soul and Sanity.”

The outpouring of emotional reactions even took Elmo by surprise. So much so, that he wrote in a follow-up tweet: “Wow! Elmo is glad he asked! Elmo learned that it is important to ask a friend how they are doing. Elmo will check in again soon, friends! Elmo loves you. #EmotionalWellBeing.”
