Elton John briefly hospitalized after falling in French villa
Music icon Sir Elton John was hospitalized Sunday night after he fell in his villa in Nice, France.
John, 76, was reportedly rushed to the orthopedic wing of Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco where he was given a thorough scan.
A rep for the “Rocket Man” singer told the Daily Mail that John, who is currently vacationing in France with his husband and two sons, was released from the hospital on Monday and is in good health.
“We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” said the representative in a statement. “Following checkups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health.”
The Post reached out to John’s reps for comment.
The “Candle in the Wind” singer, who just wrapped his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in July, was recently spotted having a lavish dinner at a restaurant on the French Riviera with Kevin Spacey three weeks after the actor was acquitted of sex assault charges against four men.
Spacey, 64, appeared in high spirits while dining with the superstar; his filmmaker husband, David Furnish; and John and Furnish’s two children, Zachary, 12, and Elijah, 10.
Prior to the dinner, John had testified in defense of Spacey by answering questions about Spacey’s attendance at the couple’s White Tie and Tiara Ball.
According to one of Spacey’s alleged victims, while he and the star were driving to the ball, the “House of Cards” actor grabbed his crotch with such strength that he almost crashed his car.
John and his husband countered the statement by saying that Spacey had actually arrived at the event by private jet.
“He was an Oscar-winning actor and there was a lot of buzz and excitement that he was at the ball,” Furnish, 60, said in his testimony.
The “Rocketman” producer also claimed that Spacey hadn’t even attended the gathering the year the accuser said he did, adding that the Oscar winner attended the function just once, in 2001, only appearing in photos of the event that year.
When asked if it was possible that celebrities could ask to not be photographed at the event, Furnish said that was never the case. Furnish explained, “It was understood we were promoting a charity involving the eradication of stigma surrounding disease. For celebrities wanting to come to our event, it was always understood they needed to be photographed.”
John further backed up Spacey’s defense, saying that he remembered the actor attending the function only once and buying a Mini Cooper before spending the night at the singer’s home.
