Endre Stroemsheim lands maiden World Cup win in Oberhof after Johannes Thingnes Boe’s costly mistakes

Endre Stroemsheim took advantage of Johannes Thingnes Boe’s wayward shooting to secure his first ever World Cup victory in Oberhof.

The pair were 20 seconds clear of the field at the halfway stage with Boe the favourite to go on and claim a fourth World Cup win of the season.

However, the five-time Olympic champion missed three targets in the final shoot, while Stroemsheim missed just two and skied on to victory.

Boe was overhauled by Sturla Laegreid, who finished second, while Johannes Dale-Skjevdal climbed from 13th to third.

Julia Simon took her first win of the women’s biathlon season, despite two shooting penalties.

Norway’s Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold finished third, albeit almost 45 seconds behind.
