Ethan Hayter has had surgery after suffering a fractured collarbone following a crash at the Cadel Evans Ocean Road Race in Geelong, Australia.

He is also being monitored by the team’s medical staff during a recovery and rehabilitation phase ahead of a return to training.
It is unclear how long he is expected to be sidelined for but won’t be representing Great Britain at the European Championships which run from February 8-12 in Grenchen, Switzerland.
The 24-year-old’s absence was confirmed when British Cycling named their squad earlier in the week:
“The men’s endurance squad will be led by Dan Bigham, Ethan Vernon and Ollie Wood, in their first international track event since spectacularly taking the team pursuit world title in October,” the wrote on their website.
“Charlie Tanfield will also return to the boards after illness and Will Perrett will compete in his first major event as a full-time GBCT rider. Fred Wright makes his senior European Championships debut for the GBCT, after a breakthrough season on the road in 2022.
“Ethan Hayter was scheduled to compete but due to injury, Will Tidball will be stepping in to complete the men’s endurance squad.”
Hayter had to leave the 2022 Vuelta a Espana but won the Tour de Pologne and successfully defended his British Time Trial title.
He also finished fourth in the time trial at the World Championships and finished ninth in the road race.
