Euro 2024: Erling Haaland double fires Norway to first win as Moldova earn incredible comeback win over Poland

Erling Haaland scored twice as Norway earned their first Euro 2024 qualifying win against Cyprus, while Moldova produced a sensational comeback against Poland and there was chaos in Scotland’s clash with Georgia.

Play was suspended after less than 10 minutes at Hampden Park after a torrential downpour left the pitch in an unplayable state.

It took until 9.35pm local time for play to resume again – almost two hours after the original kick-off time – with Scotland leading 1-0 thanks to an early Callum McGregor strike.

Norway, who suffered a gut-wrenching late collapse to lose to the Scots on Saturday in Oslo, beat Cyprus 3-1 to move level with second-placed Georgia on four points.

Ola Solbakken gave the hosts an early lead before Manchester City star Haaland struck twice in the space of three second-half minutes – the first a penalty and the second in open play.

Grigoris Kastanos pulled back a late consolation for the visitors, who prop up the table with 0 points.

In Group E, Moldova looked dead and buried at half-time against Poland after going 2-0 down to goals from Arkadiusz Milik and Robert Lewandowski.

However, the hosts launched an extraordinary fightback after the break as Ion Nicolaescu quickly pulled one back before adding his second with 11 minutes to go to level things up.

With five minutes left to play, Vladyslav Baboglo netted an incredible winner to stun Poland and send Moldova above them into third place on five points, two ahead of the visitors.

Albania earned a 3-1 win in the Faroe Islands to take control of second place; they have six points, one less than leaders Czech Republic.

A Romelu Lukaku double fired Belgium to a 3-0 win in Estonia and the Red Devils stretched four points clear of Sweden below them.

The Swedes were beaten 2-0 away to Group F leaders Austria, who had a late Christoph Baumgartner double to thank for the three points.

Bulgaria held Serbia to a 1-1 draw in Sofia, allowing Hungary to take control of Group G by moving ahead of the Serbians on goal difference to top Group G thanks to a 2-0 win over Lithuania.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s late winner gave Portugal a 1-0 win in Iceland and they remain two points clear on top.

Slovakia are second after a 1-0 win in Liechtenstein, while Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat at home to Luxembourg.
