Evan Ellingson’s death investigated as possible overdose: report
The death of former child actor Evan Ellingson is being investigated as a possible overdose, according to a new report.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that drug paraphernalia was found in the San Bernardino County, California, sober-living home the “My Sister’s Keeper” star, who died Sunday at 35, was staying in.
The outlet added that what happens with the investigation will be dependent on the eventual results of the toxicology report.
Ellingson was found dead Sunday in his bedroom, and there appeared to be no foul play involved.
The actor, who got his start at 13 on the soap opera “General Hospital,” hadn’t performed in a decade.
He notably acted in 2009’s “My Sister’s Keeper” alongside Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin and Abigail Breslin.
Breslin paid tribute to her co-star Monday in an Instagram post.
“Evan Ellingson was a kind, funny and extremely talented human being,” Breslin, 27, wrote.
“Evan was a genuinely thoughtful person who cared so much about turning in the best performance, which he accomplished,” Breslin continued. “Some of his scenes in [‘My Sister’s Keeper’] still give me chills.”
The actor, who also appeared in Clint Eastwood’s 2006 film “Letters from Iwo Jima,” played sizable roles in the TV drama series “24” and “CSI: Miami” — his final credit.
Evan’s father, Michael Ellingson, told TMZ that his son’s death came as a “complete shock” to his family.
