Family, friends of Cameron Robbins remember teen at memorial

Dozens of friends and family members of Cameron Robbins gathered at a private memorial service Sunday to remember the teen lost at sea.

Loved ones mourned Robbins during the service at the Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after he disappeared after jumping off a pirate-themed “booze cruise” in the Bahamas in May.

The 18-year-old had just graduated from high school and was celebrating with other newly-minted grads on the cruise through when the tragedy occurred.

His body was never found.

Many of Robbins’ former classmates — likely some of the same pals who were the last to see Robbins alive — piled into the church to honor their late friend on Sunday.

A winding line of people in suits and black dresses formed outside the church doors as mourners waited to pay their respects, photos from outside the building show.

Robbin’s parents and siblings were also photographed walking towards the church together.

On Saturday, his parents told The Post they are still processing their son’s death and final moments chillingly caught on video, but appreciated the outpouring of support.

“We are just mourning our son right now,” said Shari Robbins, the teen’s mom. “We appreciate you calling. Maybe we will be able to talk more later.”

Robbins was last seen late May 24 in the waters off Athol Island in the Bahamas after he leapt from Blackbeard’s Revenge, the pirate-style ship.

What to know about Cameron Robbins’ disappearance

Cameron Robbins, 18, graduated from University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge in May and was on a trip to the Bahamas with students from several local high schools.

According to witnesses, the teen — who was apparently acting on a dare — took a plunge off a party cruise into the ocean near Athol Island at night.

Robbins was last seen splashing in the dark, “shark-infested” waters a few feet from the boat, before vanishing from view.

A chaotic video taken moments after the jump also shows the recent graduate ignoring onlookers’ pleas to grab a buoy.

The party ship remained in the area for several hours while the crew looked for Robbins.

The Coast Guard called off its own search two days later, after reportedly scouring over 325 square miles.

“Though he left this world far too soon, he lived a life full of good friends and family. He was funny and kind-hearted, but also intense and driven. He doted on his grandparents and he took pride in his work,” the obituary read.

“He will be missed desperately by his family and friends, who will carry their cherished memories of him to eternity.”
