‘Family Guy’s’ ruthless Harry, Meghan spoof gets Del Taco response
“Family Guy” included a reference to Del Taco during their latest (and ruthless) Sunday episode roasting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — and now the restaurant chain has spoken.
In one scene of the Seth MacFarlane-created series, animated versions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are lounging poolside unbothered.
“Babe, time to do our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco,” the “Suits” alum, 42, says, a nod to the couple’s business deals since they moved to Montecito, Calif, after stepping down as senior members of the royal family.
Del Taco, in response, shared via X (formerly known as Twitter): “Harry & Meghan we are still waiting for your post to go up today plz.”
Some social media users got a kick out of the tweet.
“I’m going to @DelTaco today just because they made me laugh,” one wrote.
“Oh this is GOOOOOOOD! 🌮” a second shared.
As a third wrote, “Can we get a special Duchess Del Taco?🤣” another simply posted a laughing GIF of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
In the episode, a butler also made fun of the couple by attempting to give Harry a stack of envelopes. “Sir, your millions from Netflix for no one knows what,” he says.
“Put it with the rest of them,” the Brit, 39, replies.
The bit ends with Harry seemingly annoyed with his life choices. He declares: “I shouldn’t have left the made-up nonsense.”
Prince Harry and the former actress have been mocked countless times on television.
HBO Max’s “The Prince” often took jabs at the pair. In one scene of the animated satirical series, Harry told his love: “What are we going to do? Can you get another show? I mean, not one that you act on darling, I know people don’t want to hire you for that anymore.”
But it was a “South Park” episode that allegedly “upset and overwhelmed” Markle. In a February episode, cartoon characters — that bore a striking resemblance to the pair but were not named — were called “dumb” as they held up signs that read both “we want privacy!” and “stop looking at us.”
The episode aired as the couple continued in real-life to take part in speaking engagements and signing deals with the likes of Netflix (where they released their documentary, “Harry & Meghan”). Harry also released his bombshell memoir “Spare” and Markle tackled her short-lived “Archetypes” podcast on Spotify before it got axed.
