Fatalities in Indiana Mall Shooting, Official Says
An undisclosed number of people had been killed in a shooting at a mall in Greenwood, Ind., on Sunday, a local official confirmed.
The official, Michael Pruitt, the coroner for Johnson County, said he was unaware of how many people had died or been injured but that his office would be called.
“My office hasn’t been called in yet — I do know that we are going to be called in, because there are fatalities,” he said.
The police said on Facebook that they were seeking witnesses to the shooting, which happened at the Greenwood Park Mall.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said on Twitter that it was helping the local authorities and urged people to avoid the area.
It said on Twitter that there were “multiple casualties” but that there was “no known ongoing threat.”
It said multiple agencies were working to clear the mall.
This is a developing news story.
