Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) somehow managed to fend off a series of brutal attacks from Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) while Ineos’ Geraint Thomas was dropped on Stage 17 of the Tour de France. Pogacar eventually roared to victory in a thrilling finale, but without eating into Vingegaard’s overall lead too much.
It was another enthralling day of racing as Pogacar ramped up the intensity in a desperate attempt to reduce the deficit to Vingegaard in the general classification on a very demanding day in the Pyrenees.
