Final Powerball drawing of 2023 could net possible winner almost $800 million

Could there be some early New Year’s celebrations?

The penultimate Powerball of 2023 had no jackpot winner Wednesday night, meaning the last drawing of 2023 could net a possible winner almost $800 million.

The winning numbers were 4, 11, 38, 51, 68, with the red Powerball 5. The Power Play option was 3X.

While no one walked away with the estimated $685 million prize, a lucky winner in Texas scored $2 million after matching all five white balls and the Power Play.

Another million dollars was snatched in California when one player matched all five white numbers.

Saturday’s drawing will have a grand prize of approximately $760 million or a cash value of $382.5 million.

Powerball winners have the option to receive the jackpot in increments of 30 payments over 29 years or a one-time lump sum.

The odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 292,201,338.

Wednesday night’s zero-winning tickets continued a streak of 33 drawings with no grand prize winners, dating back to Oct. 11, when someone bought their life-changing ticket worth $1.76 billion in Frazier Park, Calif.

The identity of the winner hasn’t been released, nor if they chose the $1.76 billion option or the cash prize of $774.1 million.

The latest winner is believed to be an area local who “religiously” plays the lottery.

“There’s people that come in every day to get their tickets, we know them by name and I’m sure someone’s gonna be screaming up and down,” an employee at Midway Market & Liquors, the store that sold the ticket, told KCAL at the time.

The Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $760 million for the next drawing on Saturday, Dec. 30. Powerball

There have been 5 jackpot winners in 2023, with 3 of them being a part of the 10 largest Powerball jackpots of all time.

The winning tickets were purchased in Washington, Virginia, Ohio and two in California.

The largest prize of $2.04 billion. was won back in Nov. 2022 by Edwin Castro.

Castro opted for the more modest cash prize of $997 million, and has been building up his real estate portfolio and car collection ever since.

The Los Angeles resident, 31, kept his new fortune a secret and “vanished” off social media.
