Former Texas high school basketball star, Kyron Henderson, goes on robbery spree, arrested multiple times

A former Texas high school basketball player arrested in 2022 for the accidental shooting of a team trainer has been arrested two more times in connection to a string of armed robberies.

Kyron Henderson, a 6’6″ senior on the Kimball High School (Dallas) boy’s basketball team had traveled with the team to San Antonio in March 2022 for the UIL Boys Basketball state championship game when a gun he had inside his bag went off, hitting the team’s female student trainer in the ankle.

Henderson, 18 at the time, was arrested the next day on two felony gun charges, according to Dallas News, with court documents indicating one of his charges related to Possession of a Firearm on School Premises.

The rising star, who had previously committed to West Texas A&M to play football, was released from jail two days after his arrest and the case was dismissed in August 2022.

Henderson was immediately removed from the team following the shooting, and with his court case dismissed, he turned to a crime spree, robbing multiple people and eventually getting arrested two more times in a matter of 18 days.

In April, Henderson was arrested and booked on two felony charges — second-degree Robbery and first-degree Aggravated Robbery — stemming from an armed robbery at a Starbucks on Nov. 28, 2022.

Henderson had posed on social media as someone looking to buy laptops and lured his eventual victims to an agreed-upon location where he would pull out a gun and rob them.

He had “exchanged messages with a Facebook account bearing the name ‘Lamar Brown’ and made arrangements to complete a sale transaction at Starbucks on Oaklawn.” WFAA reported, citing an arrest affidavit.

Henderson, 19, was released on a $50,000 bond on April 14 and put on Pretrial / Electronic Monitoring but was arrested ten days later after he failed to comply with the bond conditions and was located at multiple unauthorized locations within a three-day span beginning hours after his release, according to court documents.

Henderson was scheduled to be re-released on May 10, again with ankle monitoring, but walked out of the county jail unsupervised and began robbing again, sources told WFAA.

Dallas Police worked to arrest Henderson a fourth-time last week on four more aggravated robbery charges, according to the station.

It is not known if he has been taken into custody.
