Arnya Sabalenka advanced to the quarter-finals of the French Open following a 7-6(5) 6-4 win over Sloane Stephens.
In the first match women were given the evening match on Philippe-Chatrier, that fans were certainly given their money’s worth in a thrilling first set.

Sabalenka looked to be in total control as she raced into a 5-0 lead with Stephens unable to find her rhythm until pulling out a love hold to stop the rot.

The American then saved four set points as she clawed her way back into the match to force a tiebreak only to allow a relieved Sabalenka to seize the advantage.
The 2023 Australian Open champion regained the composure that gave her such a commanding early lead and broke twice the second to see her way through.
