French Open 2023: Stefanos Tsitsipas eases into third round with straight sets win over Roberto Carballes Baena

Stefanos Tsitsipas is into the third round at Roland-Garros thanks to a 6-3 7-6(4) 6-2 victory over Roberto Carballes Baena.

Tsitsipas was made to work during his first round victory over Jiri Vesely but he went on the attack early on against Carballes Baena, securing a break in the third game.

Tsitsipas would go on to find another break in order to take the opening set.

There were multiple breaks for both players in the second as some inconsistencies started to creep in. Eventually it led to a tie-break which was won by Tsitsipas.

That proved to be the turning point of the game as Tsitsipas smoothly moved through the gears to race to a 4-0 lead. The Spaniard prevented the bagel but was unable to stop his opponent from taking the match.

He will face either Diego Schwartzman or Nuno Borges in the third round.
