The two have only ever met once before, in a rivalry that has existed at a distance since the young Spaniard’s emergence onto the scene.

But now the stakes couldn’t be higher, as a place in the final awaits against either Casper Ruud or Alexander Zverev, who play in the other semi-final.

It’s the men’s match that everyone had their eye on when the draw came out, pitting the young pretender against the game’s dominant figure of recent years.
