Georgia deputy saves woman trapped in burning car: video

Dramatic video captured the moment a Georgia sheriff’s deputy lept into action and rescued a woman from a burning car deep in the woods.

Sergeant Ashleigh Taylor rushed to the scene of the car fire near Highway 46 and likely saved the woman’s life when he pulled her out from behind the wheel Saturday, the Candler County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.

The deputy’s body cam footage shows Taylor pulling over to the side of the road, jumping out of his cruiser and running through several feet of brush until he reaches the red car, covered in smoke and growing flames.

He smashes the driver’s side window with a baton while yelling at the woman to remove her seatbelt and get out of the car, the video shows.

The fire shoots up around the side of the vehicle, inching closer to Taylor and the driver as his commands to “take your seatbelt off” get more frantic.

The dramatic rescue was captured by Taylor’s body-worn camera and posted by the Candler County Sheriff’s Office.

“Give me your hand,” Taylor shouts as he drags the woman out of the burning car. “C’mon, get out of the car.”

He places the woman on the ground and then checks for any passengers still inside the vehicle, according to the footage.

After clearing the car, Taylor asks a bystander to help carry the woman out of the woods and away from the blaze.
