Georgia Subway under fire for Titan disaster-themed sign: ‘Our subs don’t implode’

A Subway in Georgia came under fire after employees displayed a “distasteful” slogan on the restaurant’s outdoor marquee sign that seemingly made light of the Titan submersible implosion that killed five people last month.

The message board below the Subway sign at the chain eatery’s store in Rincon read: “Our subs don’t implode,” according to photos posted online.

All five passengers aboard the OceanGate sub died when it imploded on its way down to see the sight of the Titanic wreck on June 18.

OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani British businessman Shahzadad Dawood and his 19-year-old son Sulaiman Dawood perished in the doomed vessel.

Many online commenters felt the Subway store’s message was insensitive to the people killed in the deepsea disaster and their loved ones.

“@Subway this is your store in Rincon, GA,” Amanda Butler tweeted with a photo of the sign. “Not only is it distasteful, it’s just sad. Do better.”

Local station WTOC reported that a manager at the Rincon Subway said the message had been removed but refused to comment further.

“We have been in contact with the franchise about this matter and made it clear that this kind of comment has no place in our business,” Subway’s corporate headquarters said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The sign has since been removed.”
