Trump 4-2 Si (36-17)
And Si again comes up short among the balls. Tries to ram in a green at pace, but well off the potting angle and he has left Judd another golden chance to mop up these balls. Si being punished for wrong shot choice at wrong time.
Trump 4-2 Si (15-1)
Well, would you believe it. Si slams home a long red, but ends up connecting with the black and it flies down the opposite top bag. But Judd misses a toughish red to left centre seconds later to hand Si another go at these balls. Another big visit coming up.
Trump 3-2 Si (82-0)
Red stays out on 82, but that is more than good enough for Judd to claim the sixth frame for a 4-2 advantage. First time in this final that he has built a two-frame lead. He needs one frame of the remaining two in this session to secure a lead ahead of tonight’s second session.
Trump 3-2 Si (55-0)
Delightful shot by Judd to roll in pink before clipping open the pack of reds. Every chance of a frame-winning contribution in one hit. Magical level of play.
Trump 3-2 Si (35-0)
Trump seeing some yardage in this break. White up and down the table with some gusto as he reaches 25. Can’t say this is not entertainment.
Trump 3-2 Si (11-0)
A blistering red by Trump is powered in at the outset of the sixth frame. What a lovely long red that. Chance for Judd to get his scoring boots on again here. Working the white ball to some effect. Cue power is outstanding.
Trump 2-2 Si (96-3)
A rapid little cameo knock of 45 from Judd to go with the earlier 51 and Trump again edges clear in this final for a third time.
Trump 2-2 Si (51-3)
Trump not in complete control of the cue ball, but coming up with the goods via some stunning recovery pots. Can’t split the pack off green and is forced to declare on 51. Si sees a cross double on a red drop, but he then misses the pack of redw on the left flank off yellow. Trump produces a telling safety shot by covering all the reds. Si hits a red, but has left Judd right in among the balls. Glorious chance to move 3-2 up.
Trump 2-2 Si (14-0)
Trump opts to try a double on a red, and it flies into the left centre pocket without touching the sides. Judd gets first go at these balls in the fifth frame.
Trump 2-2 Si (0-0)
Off we go then for another four frames of this absorbing final. Will someone have a lead heading for tonight’s second session?
Trump 2-1 Si (31-77)
Chance of snooker missed by Trump, and Si teases the final red into right centre pocket. That will do the job for Si, who heads for a cuppa at the break level at 2-2. One hour and 13 minutes, and this German Masters final is delicately poised.
Trump 2-1 Si (31-69)
Quality response from Si. Fair enough, he was presented with chance to weigh in with a heavy knock, but these balls still needing potting. Breaks down on 60. And Judd needs a snooker here. But still life in this frame after Si misses a red to right middle. “Safety shot would have been more the order of the day there,” says Alan McManus in the comms box.
Trump 2-1 Si (7-21)
Si misses a tough red to right middle, but he returns to the table seconds later as Trump is so unfortunate to see a plant on reds disappear after opening up pack via blue. Now then. Key visit to the table coming up for Si. Every chance to make a decent break.
Trump 1-1 Si (80-6)
Looks like Trump is going to restore his lead at 2-1. Si not mindful of his cue ball in baulk and Judd punishes him by carting a terrific long red down a top pocket. Si can’t afford to make safety errors, or he will be punished in this final. Exhibition red down the side rail and into the green pocket to finish off in style. One more frame before the mid-session break.
Trump 1-1 Si (50-6)
But he misses a testing red using the rest, and that will be a reprieve for Si in this third frame. Seven reds left on table.
Trump 1-1 Si (46-6)
Fine recovery pot on a red to right middle by Judd to keep the break going. And the crowd are loving every moment of that. Inching towards the winning line in frame by potting some wild and wonderful reds.
Trump 1-1 Si (22-6)
Trump with a slight error from the break-off, but Si can’t punish as he follows up a fine opening red by seeing white disappear down left centre bag after potting black. He then throws in another bad mistake by clipping pack of reds too thick and white races down a top pocket. How costly is that going to prove with Judd drilling home a long red.
Trump 1-0 Si (7-106)
A classy knock of 73 from Si, and this match is all level at 1-1. Black flies off table at end of frame, but no matter. Battle is joined.
Trump 1-0 Si (0-75)
A timely and fortunate snooker by Si gives him the upper hand in this second frame. Judd misses the red on the escape and leaves his opponent bang among balls. In goes a tricky pink, and suddenly this is an obvious chance to restore parity at 1-1 in this final. Fine response by the 21-year-old Si.
Trump 1-0 Si (0-29)
What a thumping shot on a green by Si to ram it down the yellow bag. And comes back down table for red. Fearless piece of potting, but he can’t keep break going as lead moves to 29 points.
Trump 1-0 Si (0-14)
Only 14 from this first visit of the second frame. It is fair to say, Si is going to have to up his scoring to be dangerous in this final.
Trump 1-0 Si (0-7)
First blood to Judd then in this final battle. Si can’t get the snookers he needs, and that is a 1-0 lead to the favourite. Si breaks off in the second frame. And is handed first chance after Judd rattles a long red in the jaws of a top bag.
Trump 0-0 Si (75-53)
Si manages to hit the yellow on the fourth occasion, but leaves it to top right-hand pocket and Judd slots yellow and green to leave his opponent chasing a snooker. Trump then slams in the brown. Surely a done deal now. A lead of 27 points with 18 left up.
Trump 0-0 Si (62-48)
Si with several chances to get opening frame won, but misses a yellow from mid-range after slotting red and tough blue. He is then dropped in a snooker by Judd with colours all over the show. Si twices misses the yellow, hitting pink the second time as lead moves to 14 points.
Trump 0-0 Si (52-42)
A stunning pot on the penultimate red down a side rail, but he can’t land ideally on final red, and misses it across table. A big chance for Si wasted. Looks like a red-ball frame with colours all on their spots.
Trump 0-0 Si (52-35)
Delightful shot by Judd to slot black to left middle before opening up two reds, but he then misses a tricky red to right centre. DIdn’t expect that. Frame looked a done deal, but Si lives to fight another day here.
Trump 0-0 Si (33-29)
Judd is seeing the ball superbly well this week. In goes a long red, and he is up and running here with pink dropping and white opening up a few reds at same time. Lovely control of the white ball. What is he going to produce here?
Trump 0-0 Si (0-29)
Well, what a reception for both men. Over two thousand fans packed inside the Tempodrom for this final Sunday. Must be one of the greatest venues in the world of snooker. If not the best. Error by Trump from the break-off shot, and presents Si with chance to get hand on table. Bangs in a mid-range red and lands nicely on black. Eight frames to be played this afternoon. Tries to split pack via pink off black spot, but nothing doing and just the safety shot to follow.
Trump 0-0 Si (0-0)
Trump yet to taste defeat to Si, winning all four of their previous meetings since 2019 , but this is the first time they do battle in this length of match before a full house in Berlin. Is likely to be quite the contest.
