German Masters snooker: Jimmy White, Gary Wilson and Stuart Bingham lose qualifiers, Zhang Anda and Matthew Stevens win
Jimmy White’s hopes of another extended run at the German Masters were dashed by a 5-2 defeat to Pang Junxu in the qualifiers in Sheffield.
He was joined in the last 64 by Scott Donaldson, who brought two-time Scottish Open champion Gary Wilson crashing back to earth with a 5-4 win late on Wednesday night.
Scotsman Donaldson also produced runs of 115, 84, 70, 58 and 58 with Wilson top scoring with a 55 in the fifth frame.
18-year-old rookie Liam Pullen completed a 5-1 win over 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham 5-1 with breaks of 73, 80, 56 and 72, while International champion Zhang Anda produced 133 in a 5-3 victory over Mostafa Dorgham.
Elsewhere, former Welsh Open champion Jordan Brown compiled a sparkling 142 as he came 4-2 down to complete a 5-4 win over Long Zehuang.
Brown also trailed 51-0 in the decider, but a 69 break was enough to book his flight to Germany.
