German Masters Snooker: Kyren Wilson, Tom Ford reach last 32 as Mark Davis upsets Barry Hawkins to go through
Kyren Wilson reached the last 32 of the German Masters in Berlin with a 5-1 win over Ben Woollaston.
Wilson made a 136 break and three half-century breaks to book his place in the next round.
Wilson will next play either Ricky Walden or David Lilley as he bids for his first ranking title of the season.
Woollaston took the first frame 73-49 but then didn’t score in the next two as Wilson moved ahead.
The world No. 10 just missed out on a century with a break of 96 to make it 1-1 and then took the third frame 92-0.
A break of 136 put Wilson 3-1 up at the mid-session interval.
A close fifth frame went Wilson’s way as he won it 68-54, and he sealed the win with a break of 67.
Meanwhile, world No. 60 Mark Davis caused an upset as he beat world No. 15 Barry Hawkins 5-1.
Hawkins could not get going in the match and managed just a 49% pot-success rate.
Davis made four half-century breaks of 89, 66, 54 and 63 to advance.
Elsewhere, Tom Ford also reached the last 32 with a 5-1 victory over Xiao Guodong.
Ford reeled off the first four frames in a row behind breaks of 93, 84, 52 and 62.
Xiao got on the board in the fifth frame but Ford then closed the win.
Mark Allen and John Higgins play on Wednesday afternoon with Ali Carter and Judd Trump in action in the evening session.
