German Masters snooker: Tian Pengfei battles back to edge Reanne Evans as Noppon Saengkham crashes out, Joe Perry win
Tian Pengfei claimed the final three frames to complete a 5-4 win over 12-time women’s world champion Reanne Evans on the final day of German Masters qualifying.
Evans led 3-1 and 4-2 at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, but could not scramble over the winning line as Tian held his nerve in the decider to book his trip to Berlin for the last-64 stage next month.
Last year’s losing finalist Tom Ford secured his return flight to Germany with a 5-0 whitewash of defending women’s world champion Baipat Siripaporn with breaks of 91, 62 and 59 ensuring a smooth passage for the Leicester professional.
There was also a convincing 5-0 victory for former world championship semi-finalist David Gilbert, who pieced together breaks of 78, 56, 104 and 90 to advance to the finals venue at the Tempodrom.
