‘Gilmore Girls’ star Adam Wylie arrested for shoplifting
“Gilmore Girls” star Adam Wylie was accused of shoplifting over $100 worth of merchandise at a California Target earlier this month.
According to TMZ, the former child star was spotted by Target’s loss-prevention team loading his cart with several health and beauty products alongside other items.
Burbank police told the outlet that Wylie, 39, proceeded to the self-checkout area but only scanned a few items from his cart before attempting to flee the store with the goods.
Once outside, the “Picket Fences” star was nabbed by security.
According to officers, Wylie had attempted to make off with $108 dollars worth of merchandise. Authorities arrived and cited the actor with petty theft before letting him go.
The Post has contacted Burbank police to confirm the charges and also Wylie for comment.
According to the actor’s IMDb page, he enjoyed a rather successful stint on television, notably playing Brad Langford in the hit 2000s WB dramedy.
Wylie also found success on the stage, having starred in the 2002 revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” on Broadway.
Recently, Wylie starred in “Under Wraps 2,” the sequel to his 1997 film.
When not acting, the “Lucifer” actor has found success as a magician, conjuring nearly 1.4 million followers on TikTok and even performing on “Masters of Illusion” in 2016.
Since the alleged shoplifting incident, the actor has come under fire from fans on social media begging him to answer why he might do such a thing.
“Was this posted before or after you shoplifted,” one user roasted him on an Instagram post dated the same day as the crime.
“Why did you shoplift at Target,” another user asked on his TikTok.
Another jumped to the actor’s aid, slamming the nosey question.
“Why did you come here and ask him,” someone commented. “That it’s none of your business. And if, and when he’s ready, he will tell people what happened or not.”
