Grandson stopped at TSA over briefcase his grandma told him not to open
What’s in the box! Or, what’s in the briefcase?
A Kansas man claimed he was stopped by TSA agents over an early Christmas present that his grandmother ordered him not to open until he reached California.
Brett Gaffney took to TikTok moments after his gift, which was a massive briefcase, set off one of the detectors at the airport as he headed to the Golden State over the Thanksgiving holiday.
“I got stopped [by] the airport security, and you know what it was because of this briefcase my grandma gave me as an early Christmas gift, and she said don’t open it until you get to California,” Gaffney said while holding the brown colored brief case.
“I was like, ‘What is in the briefcase? It’s super heavy,’” Gaffney said he asked his grandmother. “Just wait till you get there,” to which the grandmother responded, he said.
“I was like, ‘Grandma, I’m going to the airport, like I need to know,” Gaffney continued.
When Gaffney arrived at the airport and got to the security checkpoint, he claimed TSA immediately flagged his briefcase.
“They asked me what was inside, and I said I don’t know, I don’t know,” Gaffney recalled. “They said, ‘What do you mean? You’re bringing a briefcase, and you don’t know what’s inside?”‘
Gaffney told the agents the gift was a surprise and then unbuckles two gold laches off the brown-colored suitcase to reveal a vintage typewriter.
“Who am I Tom Hanks?’ Am I going to go to the park and…write a whole book with a typewriter?” Gaffney joked, referencing the legendary actor who owns 250 typewriters.
In an update, Gaffney shows viewers clips of him using the vintage typewriter after dusting it off and getting paper for it.
Viewers praised Gaffney’s devotion of keeping his word and refusing to initially open the suitcase.
“I feel like the words “I don’t know, it’s a surprise” shouldn’t be uttered to TSA, let alone in one sitting 🤣,” one person joked.
“The fact u listened and didn’t open it is so innocent lmao,” another replier commented.
“There still is a Great American novel to be written and now you have the tools.🤷🏿♀️🥰🥰🥰,” a cheerful commenter said.
