Greg Capers shooting of Aderrien Murry bodycam video released

Harrowing bodycam footage has been released of the moment an officer gunned down a Mississippi boy who had called 911 after his mother’s “irate” ex-boyfriend showed up at their home.

The incident happened in the early morning hours of May 20 after 11-year-old Aderrien Murry called cops to alert them to the domestic dispute.

In the video, released Monday, Officer Greg Capers is seen repeatedly banging loudly on the door of their home until his dispatcher says “She’s giving you permission to kick it in”

Capers is then shown trying to do just that but he struggles with the door and is heard saying “It ain’t that easy”

At that point, a woman opens the door and Capers commands her to adopt a submissive stance.

“Let me see your hands! Let me see your hands!” he is heard saying, with his gun drawn.

“Where’s he at? Where’s he at?” the officer asks her as she gestures to inside the home with her head

“Does he have any weapons? Come out sir, don’t make us come in.”

The officer then is seen entering the home.

“Police! If you got any weapons you better put them down,” the cop warns as he surveys an empty living room.

At that moment, Aderrien is seen darting into the frame with his hands over his head, and the officer immediately opened fire, shooting him in the chest.

“Oh my god!” Capers exclaimed as the boy screamed in pain.

The officer then furiously called for an ambulance as the injured boy ran outside screaming for his mother.

“Med-stat, we need it now!,” the cop was heard yelling into his radio.

Aderrien’s mother Nakala Murry flied a $5 million lawsuit against the police department and demanded that the bodycam footage be released as well as calling on Capers and Indianola Police Chief Ronald Sampson to be fired.

Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch said last month that her office completed their review of the incident and presented it to a Sunflower County grand jury, which declined to indict Capers.

After watching the bodycam footage, Murry maintained that the situation was not justified.

“I feel like it all could have been avoided, especially from a trained police officer,” she told NPR.

“The most challenging part in dealing with this situation is the lack of humanity, the lack of decency,” her lawyer Carlos Moore reportedly said.

Moore had said that police were told on three separate occasions that no one in the home was armed.

“People have to be held accountable …We will get justice for Nakala Murry and Aderrien Murry,” he added, referring to the pending lawsuit.

Aderrien appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” in the aftermath of the incident to talk about his terrifying ordeal.

“It felt like a Taser, like a big punch to the chest,” Aderrien said of the moment he was struck.

“I was bleeding — bleeding from my mouth.”

He recounted how he sang gospel verses and prayed as his mom desperately applied pressure to his wound.

Aderrien was treated for a collapsed lung and a cut on his liver.

“It was God that saved my life and I truly, truly believe that,” he said at the time.
