Greta Garbo’s onetime Beverly Hills residence lists for $10M
The former California home of a late great screen actress has hit the market.
In Beverly Hills, this six-bedroom, six-bathroom was once occupied by the film star Greta Garbo and her then-recently divorced orchestra conductor pal Leopold Stokowski, the pair rumored to be lovers, according to Robb Report.
Garbo’s stay at the abode was relatively brief, and it’s believed she stayed there from about 1937 to 1939, at which point she moved to the next of a long line of rented residences, the publication reported.
Since Garbo’s time at 9330 Beverly Crest Drive, it has been significantly renovated and built out by the “illustrious celebrity designer” Nicole Sassman — and now asks $10 million.
The price is a $2 million reduction from what it asked upon first listing last summer before being taken off the market in November, Mansion Global reported.
“The Greta Garbo Estate is the epitome of an iconic Beverly Hills luxury residence,” Markus Canter, who holds the listing with Cristie St. James — both of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties — told The Post.
(Previously, a different brokerage represented the estate.)
“The home combines the allure of Hollywood’s golden era with modern comfort and opulence, perched perfectly on the hill providing some of the most breathtaking panoramic views from downtown LA to the Pacific Ocean,” Canter continued. “It’s not just a house; it’s an experience, an embodiment of glamor, history and the coveted California luxury lifestyle.”
The interior is heavy on “sumptuous” woods and stonework. The kitchen is fitted with custom cabinetry and the living room has floor-to-ceiling windows. Beyond it, the multi-level outdoor offerings include a sundeck, a zero-edge infinity pool and a “secret hidden Zen bar and lounge,” according to the listing.
As well, there’s central air, a wine cellar and a walk-in pantry. All together, it measures in at 4,675 square feet.
