Grimes supports Lizzo amid sexual harassment lawsuit: ‘Loyalty matters’

Grimes is feeling good as hell about publicly supporting Lizzo.

The 35-year-old Canadian pop singer and Elon Musk’s ex took to social media on Sunday to express the positive experiences she has had with Lizzo, 35.

The support comes as the “Truth Hurts” singer is being sued by three of her former backup dancers for sexual harassment and workplace misconduct.

“I love Lizzo. Not saying I don’t believe ppl when bad things happen, but I had dancers mistreated on my watch in ways I didn’t find out about until way later. Mebe s – – t is bad,” Grimes expressed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“But loyalty matters to me. Lizzo was kind to me and others for a decade before she was ‘cool,’ and she checked in in [sic] me when no one cared. I’ve only ever seen exemplary behavior from her, especially when everyone was hating on me and she was on top of the world. There was no reason for her to check in, besides to be a good person. Just my two cents.”

Grimes came forward with an unapologetically lengthy tweet to express her support.

Grimes continued: “I recall when she first blew up being so happy because I’d never known such an admirable person to find fame in the music industry. I struggle to believe she would have so radically changed … tired of a culture that seeks to destroy it’s greatest virtues. Lizzo is amazing.”

Grimes’ supportive statement wasn’t met with overwhelming praise, but she was ready to defend her words and bring up the actions of others who’ve done the same as her.

One X user pushed back, citing fame as a reason for different actions: “Grimes it’s because you’re rich and wealthy and have influence, Lizzo is a classist abuser who doesn’t believe people ‘on her level’ deserve respect.”

The singer responded, “Lizzo was nice to me before elon when she blew up and I was still indie as f – – k. She was nice to me in like 2012 before anyone cared abt either of us. She checked in while I was cancelled a f while I was pregnant when most people abandoned me because they didn’t want the association, she was kind when was only a liability to her. I respect that hardcore. That’s a good person.”

Dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez came forward on Aug. 1, accusing Lizzo and her Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc. of wrongdoings against the outwardly-body-positive singer.

The complaint included accusations of racial and religious discrimination, body-shaming and pressure to perform uncomfortable acts with nude dancers during a live sex show.

Following the announcement of the lawsuit, Oscar-nominated director Sophia Nahli Allison claimed on social media that she walked away from being Lizzo’s documentary director after two weeks on the job, witnessing “how arrogant, self-centered and unkind she is.”

Lizzo responded to the lawsuit’s claims, deeming them “false” and “sensationalized stories.”

“I am not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be these last few days,” she wrote on X and Instagram. “I am very open with my sexuality and expressing myself but I cannot accept or allow people to use that openness to make me out to be something I am not.”

Grimes is known for being someone who isn’t afraid to live her truth.

In 2021, she admitted to posing for viral photos of her reading “The Communist Manifesto,” tweeting that she wanted to “yield the most onion-ish possible headline.” She achieved that by sharing The Post’s straight-take headline.

A decade after the 2012 hack of the popular culture blog Hipster Runoff, Grimes confessed to being behind the infamous hack and blackmail. The blog ran a leaked photo of her kissing an unnamed woman while she was attempting to kickstart her career on a good note.

Recently, she debuted her fresh “alien scars” on Instagram. The white, scar-like, futuristic tattoos along her collarbone came after her still-tender, huge leg design she revealed shortly before.

Some of her most well-known headlines revolve around the names of her and Elon Musk’s two children.

The on-again, off-again welcomed their first child — a boy initially named X AE A-12 — in May 2020. To abide by California guidelines, they eventually changed their baby’s name to X AE A-XII.

The arrival of his sister didn’t stop Grimes and the Twitter CEO from having their new child stand out.

Their daughter was originally named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk when she arrived via surrogate in December 2021, but Grimes tweeted in March that Exa is “Y now, or ‘Why?’ or just ‘?’ ” and noting that “the government won’t recognize” the symbol.

She seemed to explain it away by adding: “curiosity, the eternal question, .. and such.”
