Gun-toting suspect clipped by police car was arrested for 2 NYC burglaries
The gun-toting suspect who terrified Long Island drivers by firing shots in the middle of a busy intersection was arrested twice in the span of 20 minutes in New York City last month — including for allegedly breaking into an apartment and trying on the residents’ clothes.
Kiber Calderon — who was captured in a now-viral clip pointing a weapon at motorists and bystanders before being sideswiped by a quick-thinking Nassau County cop Tuesday — has two open burglary cases in Brooklyn from June 8, according to law enforcement authorities.
At around 1:30 p.m. that day, the 31-year-old, also known as Hanna Carillo, got into a locked apartment on Halsey Street in Stuyvesant Heights and was found “inside the sunroom” by the man who lived there, the criminal complaint against her states.
Twenty minutes later, she allegedly broke into another Stuyvesant Heights apartment, this one on Putnam Avenue, about three blocks away, prosecutors allege.
The woman living in the unit told police she left the door unlocked — and when she returned, found Calderon allegedly leaving the home wearing her “jacket and shoes,” the complaint states.
Calderon faces a litany of charges for the two incidents, including multiple counts of burglary and trespassing, none of which are eligible for bail, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office said.
A DA’s office spokesman said Calderon was released on supervision pending trial in each of the cases.
Calderon was charged by Nassau County cops on Wednesday with 13 counts, including menacing and reckless endangerment over the gun-waving incident.
Shocking video allegedly showed Calderon waving a gun in the intersection of Bellmore and Jerusalem Avenues in North Bellmore, and even pointing it at her own head.
A Long Island cop could then be seen veering into the frame, clipping the woman and sending her to the ground, with the officer screaming at her to “drop the gun!”
Another officer then tackles her and puts her in handcuffs as she appears to reach for the firearm.
She suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Calderon remained in Nassau Police custody Thursday, cops said.
