Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s dad didn’t believe her marriage would work out

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s father, Rod, doubted that his daughter’s marriage would last.

The 32-year-old announced her split from husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, on her private Facebook account Thursday.

Rod spoke to People in December 2023 just before Gypsy was released from prison.

In 2016, she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for her role in her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder and was sentenced to 10 years in jail.

Gypsy and Anderson, 37, married in July 2022 after first linking up in 2020 when she was behind bars. Their relationship blossomed when they began writing letters to each other.

“Personally, I give it a 50/50 chance that it’s going to work,” Rod told the outlet at the time. “She can be spontaneous and make a quick decision and just jump into things without thinking.”

He also wished Gypsy “came home here” before moving in with the special education teacher.

“When her being on parole was over, live with him, just live with him, learn him,” Rod said. “She’s grown, and she was told what to do all her life.”

“We wish she wouldn’t have, but like I told her, if it doesn’t work out, I’ll be there to help pick up the pieces. I really do hope it does work out. Ryan’s a great guy. He loves her for all the right reasons,” he went on.

People obtained Gypsy’s post on March 28, detailing her split from Anderson.

“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou,” her post read. “I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find … who I am.”

Gypsy told the outlet after her prison release that she was excited to set up house and enjoy married life, adding that she hoped to have a big white wedding. She also wanted kids and they recently adopted a puppy named Pixie together.

“We do plan on having a reception/redo wedding with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that. I deserve that. He deserves that,” she gushed.
