Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie join forces: ‘Hot package’
Two of the hottest stars in the Hollywood game are officially hooking up: Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie are joining forces to co-star in a new action flick.
The “John Wick” star, 56, and the “Maleficent” actress, 47, will be starring in — as well as co-producing — the upcoming thriller “Maude v Maude” for the big screen, film-industry insiders have revealed.
Warner Bros. was engaged in a bidding war over what’s hyped as a “hot package” project — and won the high-stakes battle over the weekend, Deadline first reported.
While the film’s plot details are being kept under wraps, the sources said the feature is a “Bond vs. Bourne” brand of international action thriller.
“Maude v Maude” only hit the market last week and was nailed down over the weekend, with Warner Bros. “getting aggressive and putting in the winning bid,” according to Deadline.
Since taking over as co-studio heads, Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy having been pushing to get more movie star packages on the big-screen slate, the industry outlet reported.
Once this package with mega stars Jolie and Berry gelled, it was simply “too hard to pass up, with Warners putting in an impressive bid you haven’t been seeing from the studios as often these days,” according to Deadline, especially with the power the streamers wield lately.
Filming locations have also yet to be announced but director Roseanne Liang is attached to helm the film, according to the outlet.
The Oscar-winning actresses — Jolie for 1999’s “Girl, Interrupted” and Berry for 2001’s “Monster’s Ball” — have never worked together before, despite being veterans of the entertainment industry. However, both are also vets of major action franchises, from “X-Men” to “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.”
Jolie has been laying low in recent years, following her ongoing custody battles with ex-husband Brad Pitt. She was last seen on-screen in 2021’s Marvel flick “Eternals” and will next star in Pablo Larraín’s “Maria.”
The forthcoming drama follows the life of legendary opera singer Maria Callas during her doomed final days in 1970s Paris.
Jolie also has her latest behind-the-camera effort in the can: She recently directed “Without Blood” starring Demián Bichir and Salma Hayek.
The “Wanted” star was last spotted earlier this month, taking in a three-hour lunch at Nobu in Malibu, California, with hunky billionaire heir David Mayer de Rothschild, who is part of the richest family in the world.
Meanwhile, Berry has been living in happily unwedded bliss with her boyfriend, musician Van Hunt.
Unlike the reclusive Jolie, Berry maintains quite the spicy presence on social media — and has been posting many saucy snaps on the ‘Gram in recent months.
The Oscar winner donned her birthday suit for a thirst-trap photo on April 8 when she shared a snap of herself drinking wine on her balcony.
“I do what i wanna do,” she captioned the naked pic. Berry covered her breasts with her arm as she happily sipped au naturel from a glass.
Some fans loved her look, with many commenting on her physique.
“How many people ZOOmed in on that pic hoping!! LOL I know I did,” one fan raved in the comments, while another gushed: “This pic is art! The most beautiful women earth!”
However, some users were appalled at Berry’s often skin-baring Instagram posts and slammed her for not covering up more.
“Imagine being in your 50s, still posting nudes for attention in menopause when you should be chilling with the grandkids. Aging with dignity is no longer a thing,” a troll said in a now-deleted comment.
Another person chimed in, agreeing with the hater and added: “She’s not even relevant…who cares?”
Berry responded back to the person, confidently clapping back: “Did you guys know the heart of a shrimp is located in its head?”
The Post has reached out to Berry’s and Jolie’s reps for comments about their new collab.
