Hamish Harding’s stepson, Brian Szasz, speaks out on ‘nightmare’ situation
Brian Szasz, the stepson of billionaire Hamish Harding who is aboard the missing Titanic-bound submersible, spoke out about his family’s “nightmare” ordeal and deleted his Twitter account after facing backlash for his tone-deaf posts amid the frantic search for the missing vessel.
Szasz revealed in a video posted to Instagram Wednesday he hasn’t slept in days since Harding’s vehicle, which carried four other crew members, vanished in the North Atlantic Ocean.
“This whole situation is a f–king nightmare,” Szasz said. “Especially what Hamish is going through down there. It is just f—king god awful.
“I really appreciate the love and support. Haven’t slept in days. It’s not about me. Obviously just too worried about my mom and the situation so I’m not rocking out or whatever they’re trying to accuse me of doing.”
Szasz then attempted to clear the air after he flirted with OnlyFans model Brea on Twitter, responding enthusiastically to the model flashing her booty in a thong with the caption, “can i sit on u” as the search for his trapped stepfather was underway.
“I always talk to her on Twitter,” Szasz said. “We have a playful back-and-forth. She wished me well! She wished my family well.”
Szasz, who is based in San Diego, claimed a legal situation has prevented him from being closer to the rescue mission on the East Coast, but did not detail the extent.
“Believe it or not, I have about $100 to my name,” Szasz said. “I can’t go out to the ocean. I have a legal situation keeping me here as well. I can’t get on a flight. I don’t have a passport.”
Szasz’s controversies began on Monday, the day after the submersible was reported missing as he shared a photo of himself at a Blink-182 concert.
“It might be distasteful being here but my family would want me to be at the blink-182 show as it’s my favorite band and music helps me in difficult times!” Szasz wrote in the now-deleted Facebook post.
The California native went on to explain his attendance at the concert, saying he didn’t do it for fun, but because he had been watching the news the past two days and needed to get away for a few hours.
“I go to a Blink-182 show because I have a ticket. It wasn’t like I was having super fun. It wasn’t like I was celebrating having a great time. I was kinda just listening to my all-time favorite songs, kind of nodding my head and just trying to get off the phone for maybe two hours or so and come right back into the drama.
“The submarine is stuck at the damn Titanic. There’s nothing I can do for the situation at all so that’s the truth,” he added.
Szasz claims he has received hate mail since posting the concert photo while he faced backlash from rapper Cardi B who criticized the audio engineer’s lack of compassion, calling him a “spoiled billionaire.”
“One of the billionaires that’s missing underwater from that submarine s–t … Their stepson is at a concert, right,” she said on her Instagram story on Tuesday. “You supposed to be right next to the phone waiting to hear any updates about me, You supposed to be consoling your mom and s–t.”
The rapper later took to Twitter to further attack Szasz as someone trying to gain popularity from the horrific situation.
“The point was the whole world is praying for these people in the submarine and this man son is online shaking d–ks for girls off onlyfans and going to Blink 182 concerts. You was looking for clout all along, nobody knew who you were until you said that was ya stepdad!!! This is why people hate you spoiled brat billionaires yall soo desensitize,” the rapper said on Twitter
Szasz fired back at Cardi B’s remarks, claiming the rapper was trying to seek attention off his suffering because her own career was in trouble.
“You take a complete b— like Cardi B, has no idea what’s going on. Her career is in such turmoil she needs clout off other people’s suffering. Tries to use the situation to exploit,” Szasz said. “They’re not feeling sorry that my mom has to take care of two kids. Not really giving a fuck that my stepdad is 99 percent chance he’s dead. That doesn’t matter. Doesn’t care how we feel.”
