Happiness masterclass underway in Finland, world’s happiest country

A masterclass on how to be happy is underway in Finland.

The Scandinavian nation — which has been ranked the world’s happiest country for six years in a row by the World Happiness Report — handpicked 14 students out of some 150,000 applicants in 190 countries for the in-person immersive experience, according to The Daily Mail.

Participants were flown to the country for the four-day seminar at Kuru Resort in Finnish Lakeland as part of a tourism stunt to teach sad sacks how to cheer up and “find their inner Finn,” the Thursday report said.

Coaches were covering four themes essential to “Finnish happiness” — nature and lifestyle; health and balance; design and every day; and food and wellbeing.

In between the contentment classes, guests can enjoy perks like private villas that come equipped with spa and sauna at the “luxurious” resort, which is “surrounded by fragrant pine forests and breath-taking views.”

Most of the world’s ten happiest counties were nearby in northwestern Europe, according to the World Happiness Report.

As the world’s happiest nation, we are keen to share our special keys to happiness that make the Finnish lifestyle so unique,” Heli Jimenez Senior Director, International Marketing at Business Finland reportedly said of the masterclass.

“We feel that our style of happiness stems from a down-to-earth lifestyle and close relationship with nature.

“And more importantly, we feel that happiness is a skill that can be learned and shared, rather than some sort of mystic state – which is why we’re [happy to welcome] our masterclass participants to beautiful Finnish Lakeland to get in touch with their inner happiness.”

The US was ranked the world’s 15th happiest country in the latest study, which was released in March.
