Harrison Ford reveals this is his ‘last time’ as Indiana Jones

It seems Indy is hanging up his hat for good.

Harrison Ford said last week that he no longer intends to play the famed archeologist after the release of the upcoming film “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and that he believes the movie will be the last in the franchise.

“This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film,” Ford, 80, told Total Film.

“I had been ambitious to do this film for 10 years, and there finally came a time when we all committed to that,” he added. “It was a joyous moment for me. I think it’s a rare situation that I find myself in.”

“I’ve been able to deliver amazing films developed by Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] over a 40-year period, and to end it not with a whimper, but a bang, has been my greatest ambition for this excursion,” continued the “Star Wars” actor.

The Post reached out to Ford for comment.

Ford announced his involvement in “Dial of Destiny” in May 2022. The fifth “Indiana Jones film” has been plagued with several on and off-set difficulties.

After being slated for a July 2020 release, the film was pushed back to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project was delayed even longer due to Spielberg’s commitment to “West Side Story.”

Ford also suffered a shoulder injury while filming a fight scene and a crew member died, which further delayed the project.

A trailer for the film — which was released in December — shows a young-looking Ford, a feat that was achieved by using visual effects and Industrial Light & Magic software.

“My hope is that, although it will be talked about in terms of technology, you just watch it and go, ‘Oh my God, they just found footage. This was a thing they shot 40 years ago,’ ” producer Kathleen Kennedy, 69, told Empire Magazine.

Ford admitted that seeing a younger version of himself was “spooky.”

It was also rumored in November 2022 that Disney was toying with the idea of developing a television series around the character, but Ford said he wouldn’t be involved in the series “if it does come to fruition.”

The franchise first debuted in theaters in 1981 with “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” which made nearly $4 million at the box office.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” is set to whip its way into theaters on June 30, 2023.
