Harry, Meghan are ‘devastated’ by Emmy snub: royal expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a comeback to Hollywood with their Netflix documentary series, “Harry & Meghan.”

Despite the show bringing in a total of 81.6 million hours watched, the project failed to score any Emmy nominations when they were announced earlier this week.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward recently claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are ‘devastated’ about being left out of the award show nods.

“But of course [the couple] will not show it,” the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine told the Mirror.

She added that the viewership numbers were “obviously not good enough for an Emmy nomination.”

However, the series did emerge victorious by winning a nomination for the Hollywood Critics Awards in the Best Streaming Nonfiction category.

“In the series, Harry and Meghan talk about the royal family as if they were the enemy, while they themselves are trying to save the world,” Seward went on.

“The series is an intimate look at ‘hardships’ they faced in their honey-colored, rose-tinted world,” she said.

Their six-part documentary series explored their relationship, escape from royal life and the hardships they faced.

“Meghan and Harry will concentrate in this and make it a positive, however irritated they might be not to be in the Emmy nominations,” the “Queen’s Speech” author continued.

She then shared her advice for the former actress, 41, and the Invictus Games founder, 38.

“They are having a run of bad luck in their working life. But ironically as long as they concentrate on delivering personal stuff instead of more serious work, people will be interested,” she said. “They have built a gilded cage of expectation around themselves from which it will be hard to escape.”

The couple’s media empire seems to crumbling, as they recently lost out on their $20 million Spotify contract.

Markle’s “Archetypes” Spotify podcast was not renewed for Season 2, however, they still have their Netflix deal to fall back on.

The pair penned a $100 million agreement in 2021 to create shows and other content with the streaming service.

But Harry could be getting a little tired with the lights of Tinseltown. The Daily Mail noted recently that the father of two may be looking to leave Hollywood.

“The big question is how long before Harry turns his back on the show-business life, for which he is obviously ill-suited and seems entirely uncomfortable with?” Alison Boshoff penned for the publication.

“In truth, Harry never really wanted to be a podcaster or a TV executive. He didn’t want to be the pepper to Meghan’s salt.”
