Harry Styles’ accused stalker charged for causing star ‘serious distress’
A 35-year-old woman has been charged with stalking pop star Harry Styles, causing him “serious alarm or distress.”
Myra Carvalho appeared before a UK magistrates court Tuesday after an alleged incident in London the previous day, according to the Evening Standard
Although exact details were not given, the alleged stalking was enough to have “a substantial adverse effect on [Styles’] usual day-to-day activities,” the charge said, according to the paper.
The charge accuses Carvalho of “stalking involving serious alarm or distress,” the report said.
The accused stalker, who was staying at a hostel in the UK capital, was remanded to custody by District Judge Denis Brennan. She is due back in court Feb. 20.
It is not the 29-year-old former One Direction star’s first brush with stalkers.
In 2019, he said he was left so “scared” by stalker Diana Tarazaga-Orero that he had to update his security, the Standard noted.
Tarazaga-Orero — who appeared to first target him when she was homeless and the singer gave her food — later broke her restraining order and barged into his London home, the paper said.
In 2021, Styles’ then-girlfriend, Olivia Wilde, got a restraining order against someone harassing her over their now-over relationship.
The court’s decision to place Carvalho to custody is a stark contrast to New York City’s treatment of Taylor Swift’s alleged stalker, David Crowe, who was jailed yet again Wednesday after being spotted rummaging in a dumpster outside the “Anti-Hero” songstress’ home.
Crowe, 33, appeared to have sped over to the Tribeca address directly from his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court, where he was released despite being spotted lingering outside Swift’s apartment over 30 times in the last couple months.
Reps for Styles did not immediately return The Post’s request for a comment on the incident.
