Henry Cavill cameo reportedly being cut from ‘The Flash’ movie

The hits just keep coming for Henry Cavill’s Superman.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the embattled star, 39, shot a scene for “The Flash” movie starring Ezra Miller, but Cavill’s cameo is now being cut from the film.

Cavill, who starred in Netflix fantasy hit “The Witcher” but is being replaced by Liam Hemsworth, announced his return to the role of Superman on Oct. 24. His time back was short-lasting, however, because just two months later on Dec. 14, Cavill announced on Instagram that the new DC bosses gave him the boot.

“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, who was also left in the lurch by DC’s new bosses, is also reportedly being cut from “The Flash” movie, which is due to premiere in June 2023.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Dwayne Johnson is partly to blame for this messy debacle with publicly announcing Cavill’s return, then detracting that announcement just two months later.

“In the end, he was a pawn in Dwayne’s failed attempt to control a piece of DC,” a source said.

In a recent Twitter video shortly after Cavill announced his return as Superman, Johnson, who most recently starred in and executively produced the DC movie “Black Adam, said, “This has been years in the making, regarding bringing Henry Cavill back, and years of strategic conversations … There was no other Superman, by the way. Henry Cavill is our generation’s Superman. And in my opinion, the greatest superman of all time. So bringing Henry back … now we build out the DC universe properly, strategically, smartly.”

But James Gunn apparently doesn’t agree with Johnson, and the new DC chief’s idea for building out that universe involves leaving Cavill in the dust, and yanking him from future projects, including his cameo in “The Flash.”

Meanwhile, there’s been no word that star Ezra Miller’s rampant spree of alleged international crimes and arrests is negatively impacting their role in the film.
