Hitman ‘John Wick’ takes out the box office on opening night
“John Wick: Chapter 4” took out the box office on its opening night.
The fourth installment of the Keanu Reeves-led franchise — about a hitman forced out of retirement — raked in $29.4 million on Friday, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo.
The Post praised the “assassin’s unrelenting brutality” as “a beautiful sight to behold.”
The thriller is expected to enjoy a $70 million-plus opening weekend, the best in the entire franchise, according to Collider.
“Scream VI” remained in second place, with a $2.46 million take.
This was the most expensive film in the slasher series to produce, with a budget of $35 million, according to Screenrant.
The superhero sequel “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which was in the number one spot last week, fell to third with $2.35 million in sales.
The sci-fi flick “65” remained in fourth, earning $855,000.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” stayed in fifth, taking home $609,000.
