‘Home Alone’ star Devin Ratray hospitalized in ‘critical condition’ — domestic violence trial postponed
“Home Alone” star Devin Ratray’s domestic violence trial has been delayed following reports that the actor was admitted to the hospital “in critical condition.”
According to TMZ, the 47-year-old’s family member confirmed that Ratray, best known for his role as the evil older brother of Kevin McCallister (Macauley Culkin) in the hit 1990 film, was released from the hospital in New York City and is now, on doctor’s orders, home and resting.
Details surrounding Ratray’s hospitalization are scarce, and there are no specifics regarding why Ratray was admitted and when. Still, the actor’s medical emergency caused the jury selection in his upcoming trial to be delayed.
Jury selection for the Oklahoma set trial, which was scheduled to begin on Monday, has now been pushed back to February.
The Post has reached out to reps of Ratray for comment.
The ongoing ordeal occurred less than two years after the actor was accused of raping his friend in 2017.
In August 2022, Lisa Smith claimed that she was allegedly attacked at Ratray’s Manhattan apartment, according to CNN.
Smith claimed the 45-year-old actor drugged her before sexually assaulting her.
She filed a police report shortly after the alleged ordeal.
Ratray denied all allegations against him and told CNN that he “did not have sex” with Smith.
Ratray was also arrested in December 2021 on domestic violence charges in an unrelated incident after he was accused of trying to strangle his then-girlfriend at a Hyatt hotel near downtown Oklahoma City.
According to TMZ, the woman filed a police report one day after the alleged incident occurred, claiming Ratray punched her in the face, put his hand over her mouth and tried to strangle her after a feud broke out.
In a December 2021 interview with People, Ratray revealed that a “Home Alone” reunion with the original cast was in the works.
“They have been planning a reunion online and I just recently, as in a couple of days ago, got on their messenger chat thread, and I have been trying to keep up with Jed Cohen and Diana [Rein] and Terrie [Snell] and Angela Goethals and Hillary Wolf,” he said, after reprising his role as Buzz in Disney+’s “Home Sweet Home Alone” film.
“The family is moving on their own accord to get together,” he added. “So who knows what’s going to happen in the future?”
