‘House of the Dragon’ had no title sequence — and fans are freaking out

Fans of the much-anticipated “House of the Dragon” TV series felt the absence of an epic opening-title sequence similar to that of “Game of Thrones” during its premiere on Sunday night.

Viewers who tuned into the already controversial first episode of the HBO spinoff noticed that the show got right to the action, but lacked a Ramin Djawadi-scored title sequence.

The original “GoT” opening was a fan favorite as the intense instrumental brought viewers across the fantasy world that director Miguel Sapochnik and Djawadi brought to life.

Fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions about the decision.

“House of the dragon has great pilot but no cool opening credits. pain,” one disappointed fan said.

“Only thing missing from house of dragons is a fire opening theme,” another tweeted.

“Hopefully there will be an opening next episode HOUSE OF THE DRAGON NEEDS AN OPENING!!!!!!!!!! WE LOVE OPENING TITLES!!!!!!!” one excited viewer wrote.

However, fans won’t be disappointed for much longer. HBO confirmed to The Post that a main title sequence will appear with the second episode.

A show insider also told The Post that the lack of an opening for the “GoT” prequel series was a creative choice by the showrunners in order to let the story unfold right away, adding that a Djawadi-scored sequence would have felt like an “indulgence.”

The new spinoff follows the dragon-riding, incestuous Targaryen family and takes place around 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” which aired from 2011 to 2019. The new show is based on George R. R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood.”

Once the show actually started — so many people were trying to stream it at once, HBO Max apparently crashed — initial social media reaction indicated that fans were in “tears” and the first episode was “beautiful” and “absolutely fantastic.”

“House of the Dragon” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on HBO Max.
