Valentine’s week begins with lovers of snooker receiving the perfect gift in the form of the 2023 Welsh Open.

The latest ranking event, and the last of the Home Nations Series this season, takes place in Llandudno this year – the first time it moves away from its customary Cardiff or Newport venues.

Joe Perry is the defending champion, having beaten Judd Trump in what was a big surprise in the 2022 final, and he returns to defend his crown.

When is the 2023 Welsh Open?

The 2023 Welsh Open begins on Monday, February 13 and runs until Sunday, February 19, 2023. It takes place at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.

Format

The initial qualifiers took place in January at the Mterodome in Barnsley with those involving the top 16, plus two Welsh wild-card entrants, held over to the opening Monday.

Once these matches are complete, the round of 64 begins on Tuesday 14.

The first three rounds are best-of-seven frames, the quarter-final becomes best-of-nine, the semis best of 11 and the final best of 17.
