Hugh Jackman splits his pants on Broadway

Hugh Jackman is flying by the seat of his pants when it comes to getting dressed to go on stage.

The 54-year-old actor has been hard at work bulking himself up to step into the “X-Men” character Wolverine once again, however, it’s taking a toll on his clothes.

Jackman, currently starring in “The Music Man” on Broadway, revealed that his pants have been splitting due to his growing frame.

In a recent interview with Variety, the “Prestige” star said: “The other night, I could hear the Velcro go creaking and actually popped open. I’ve split two pairs of pants.”

The entertainer, from down-undie, said his trousers ruptured during a performance on stage.

The Australian actor added: “It was an 18-inch tear. I had about two minutes. I said to the stage manager, ‘New pair of pants!’ I had my pants around my ankles.”

“I thought, ‘If my dresser doesn’t get here in time, it’s better to go on in split pants than no pants.’ Then I saw him running from stage right to stage left, top speed. We made it just in time,” Jackman continued.

The Marvel actor will be reprising his role as the mutant Logan, a k a Wolverine, in “Deadpool 3.”

Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, starred in a funny teaser announcing the news on Sept. 27. In the clip, Reynolds sits on a couch, detailing the soul-searching he’s had to do to create the plot for the third movie in the “Deadpool” series. Just as he thinks he has no good ideas, an unfazed Hugh Jackman walks up a flight of stairs behind him.

“Hey, Hugh. You want to play Wolverine one more time?’ Reynolds asks. “Yeah, sure, Ryan,” Jackman shrugs.

In addition to talking about his preparation for his upcoming role, Jackman told the Variety interviewer about the impact of losing his biggest role model.

Jackman spoke of losing his father amid filming his new movie “The Son” last year.

“He was nearing the end,” Jackman reflected. “So he was ostensibly gone, mentally. He would still smile a bit. I didn’t know he was going to physically pass away, but I knew it was kind of a goodbye.”

“The Son” was filmed in September 2021 and the Oscar nominee refused to take time off to grieve his father’s death.

“My father never missed a day of work,” Jackman added. “I could feel him. I knew if he could talk to me, he’d be like, ‘You got to go to work! What are you talking about?’ I felt his presence on the set.”
