Hunter Villasana, 17, mowed down homeless woman while drunk: cops
A Texas teenager allegedly ran over a sleeping homeless woman while driving drunk — and then tried to bribe nearby fast-food workers to let him get away, according to police and a report.
Hunter Cameron Villasana, 17, is accused of mowing down the woman as she slept in the median before crashing his black Mercedes GLK 350 into a wall Friday night, Houston police said in a news release.
He was allegedly speeding erratically and hit a curb after making a turn when the fatal strike happened, police said.
The woman, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene around 11:30 p.m., police said.
Villasana was arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter.
During a court appearance Monday, prosecutors said the young man tried to offer Jack in the Box workers Venmo payments if they let him go, KHOU reported, but the group instead held onto him until cops arrived.
Villasana flashed an empty look during the court appearance as he dressed in a white shirt and suit jacket, according to footage from the television station.
“Drunk driving or intoxicated driving is a plague in Harris County,” prosecutor Matthew Bergeron told reporters.
“Harris County, please do not drive under the influence, do not drive intoxicated, call a friend, call an Uber, anything to avoid this situation.”
Villasana was released on $200,000 bond. He is not allowed to drive, KHOU reported.
