Husband dies days after wife, unborn baby killed in pre-Christmas car wreck: reports
The husband of a mom-to-be who perished in a ghastly Arizona traffic accident has reportedly died just days after his wife and unborn baby.
Parker Stott had been clinging to life — and enduring surgery after surgery — following the Dec. 20 car wreck on US 93 in Wickenburg, Ariz., according to KUTV in Salt Lake City, Utah.
But despite doctors’ best efforts, Parker succumbed to his injuries Saturday night.
“Early this morning, Parker went in for his 3rd surgery to do some clean up on his burns, as well as start on some skin grafting for his leg,” the family wrote on Instagram.
“At the completion of the surgery, the surgeons delivered the news that Parker’s injuries were even more extensive than what we were already aware of and the outlook was extremely bleak,” the post continued.
“A few hours later, we received the update that Parker’s vitals were dropping and he was going fast,” the family wrote. “We gathered around him as a family, kissed him, hugged him, held his hand, told him just how much we loved him and how proud we were of him. He is the strongest person and has fought so hard.”
“At 6:47pm, Parker grew his angel wings to fly him to Heaven to be with his sweet love Chloe and their baby.”
Stott’s death is the tragic conclusion to a Christmas horror story that began when he and his wife went to Arizona to share the news of 24-year-old Chloe Stott’s pregnancy with their families.
“They had just found out they were pregnant with a baby and were so excited to be parents and share the news with their loved ones over Christmas,” friend Jake Toolson wrote on GoFundMe.
The couple was driving down highway 93 near Phoenix at about 8:15 p.m. when their Toyota Tundra pickup slammed into a white Volvo commercial truck, according to KSLTV.
They’d been passing other cars in a legal passing zone, but couldn’t finish the maneuver around the final vehicle.
Stott and her unborn son died on impact, the station reported. Parker was flown to the Arizona Burn Center where he was under intensive life-saving care, the GoFundMe said.
But the extent of his injuries proved too great to survive.
Parker had worked as a general contractor, while Chloe was an entrepreneur and social media influencer who ran a popular skincare boutique, Clover Skin Bar, about 40 miles outside of Salt Lake City.
The day of the crash, she had posted a loving photo of her and her husband, with the caption: “You n Me forever Parker.”
Scout Whiteley, Chloe Stott’s pal and business partner, said she was only about 10 weeks pregnant, according to KSLTV.
Parker’s injuries had been gruesomely extensive — the family said his burns were so severe that his right leg had to be amputated and he’d broken almost every bone in his body.
“As deeply saddened as we are to [lose] Parker, who had such a positive impact on so many people’s lives and brought us all so much happiness here on Earth, we are so thankful for God’s mercy that he gets to be with Chloe and relieved from all this pain,” the family wrote on Instagram.
“We know they are in a better place and get to be together.”
