I have ‘survivor’s guilt’ over Mac Miller OD death

Demi Lovato is opening up about painful thoughts she had following rapper Mac Miller’s death in 2018 from a drug overdose.

Lovato, who celebrates her 30th birthday this weekend, discussed how she felt remorse after Miller’s Sept. 7 death because it occurred just a few months after her own near-fatal OD.

“I had a lot of survivor’s guilt after my overdose because right after that, Mac Miller died, and it just put everything into perspective for me of, ‘That could have been you, that almost was you, and how are you going to live your life now?’ And it affected me a lot,” the “Cool for the Summer” singer confessed on the “Zane Lowe Show” podcast.

The “Swimming” musician’s passing at the age of 26 as well as the deaths of several other friends, inspired the song “Dead Friends” on Lovato’s new album “Holy Fvck.”

“I’ve lost friends that were around my age, and those hurt so deeply because we’ve been in the trenches together,” the former Disney Channel star explained.

Lovato was hospitalized n July 2018 due to a heroin overdose.

The “Sonny With a Chance” star revealed in her YouTube docuseries “Dancing With the Devil” last year that she suffered from three strokes and a heart attack during her OD.

“For the past couple years, I’ve heard a lot of stories about my life and what people think has happened, and I wanted to set the record straight,” she said in her documentary. “If it can help you, I hope that it can. That was ultimately my purpose to putting this out: to help people on this path.”

She described feeling pressure due to her fame and Hollywood career and finally “snapped” — the event leading to her hospitalization.

“I’ve had a lot of lives, like my cat, you know?” the star said. “I’m on my ninth life.”
